Life in a COVID world presents so many challenges, but what our region can show is a willingness to put Bathurst in people's minds.
A visit to the laser tag facility Bathurst Laser Skirmish is a great opportunity for young people and families to spend some time.
OTHER RECENT LETTERS TO THE EDITOR:
A journey to the railway museum, viewing the model train layout, including a wander up to Doppio, Tremain's Mill and Enid's Emporium for your teddy bear-bonding experience, is well worth it.
The Adventure Playground, miniature railway and ten-pin bowling experience up off Durham Street are age-appropriate destinations for different groups that mark the region as a valued experience.
Bathurst Aqua Park will open shortly at Chifley Dam - an experience at a price-point that engages visitors to the region and is deserving of support.
The NRMA Panorama caravan park, with its mini golf, is something that can build value, but more can be done in the region - just look at the ideas and talk across the region.
How to improve on these excellent and other leisure tourism experiences?
English company Tornado Amusements (www.tornado-uk.com/) has a range of products that, while seen around the world, aren't apparent in Australia.
These include coin-operated, radio-controlled boats that could be well received by young people and families as a low-cost recurrent attraction.
These ideas could add into an existing project developed in the region, including the wetland project off Edgell Lane or the Adventure Playground.
Victorian company Imagination Play imports a coin-operated mini car product from Italian company Sela (www.selacarshop.com/) that could be a family-focused attraction and youth employment opportunity, also supportive of the Bathurst go-kart project plans.
The motor racing museum or another location could benefit from a slot car circuit, possibly in an empty shop to bring interested people into the central business district.
Bathurst should welcome innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in all things and if groups or people have the capacity to champion change, well, the region is surely the winner.
