Mr Rankine said the SES has been called out to jobs where flooding has occurred as a result of water backing up from blocked gutters, and cleaning them out "would be a great way for people to be on the front foot with this."
With recent rainfall causing the Macquarie River to rise, it is likely that the expected rainfall will see the Hereford Street low-level bridge flood.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Mr Rankine said based on the predictions of the Bureau Of Meteorology [BOM] it is possible locals will see the bridge closed for a period over the weekend.
The bridge was last closed to traffic in August after the Bathurst region was drenched by 60mm of rain in a 36-hour period.
