After losing its opening five games of the season – which included an opening round two-point loss to CSU – All Saints’ first win was enough to push it off last place and up into fifth.
All Saints’ coach Cassie Pearce was thrilled with the result.
“CSU were missing some of their players and had to call up some of their second grade players but our All Saints’ girls played really well,” she said.
“Ella Lewis was massive in defence. She’s growing from strength to strength.
“Isabella Siegert also had an excellent four quarter performance.
“It was our first win of the season so it’s nice to finally get the monkey off our back.”
While the 26-point win was pleasing, Pearce is still focused on continual improvement of her side.
“We just need to keep working on our patience,” she said.
“We need to put a full four quarter performance in and not slack off for a quarter or two.
“We’ll just keep focused on playing our game and not get influenced by other teams.
“This is the first time All Saints’ has played in A grade for a while and a lot of the girls have stepped up to the challenge.”
Around the courts, ladder leader Collegians Mystified had a big 62-32 win over Mana.
The result keeps Collegians undefeated with six wins from six rounds and two points clear of second place Panthers.
Panthers overcame Bulldogs Verdelho 55-26 in the other game on Saturday.
Bulldogs stay in third while Mana rounds off the final play-off spot in fourth.
All Saints’ is in fifth, while CSU is in sixth place.
